Are We The Waiting – Green Day

American Idiot is one of my favorite Green Day albums. I love the catchy hook of We Are the Waiting; a chorus of men sing out in unison, “ Are we the are, are we the are waiting!” It reminds me of a song that soldiers would sing on their way to battle – it sounds so brave and heroic.

Heaven (Candlelight) – DJ Sammy

I admit, I have sweet tooth for sappy love songs. DJ Sammy's Heaven gets me every time. I love the melody and the saccharine arrangement with piano, strings, and a soprano vocalist – reminiscent of a high school prom scene in an ABC after school special. *Sigh* Those were the days...

All Star – Smash Mouth

I cannot hear this song without thinking about Shrek, and breaking out into a huge smile, singing along and holding up a “Loser” hand sign near my forehead at the appropriate line. (She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb in the shape of an “L” on her forehead.)

Lost Ones – Lauryn Hill

This is one of those songs that you have to bump in your car while wearing shades and nodding your head. Lauryn Hill’s style of rapping is raw, yet hip and sultry. The words of Lost Ones roll off of her tongue, and stop in your face, daring you to listen passively.

Conjunction Junction – Better Than Ezra

It’s no secret – I love School House Rock. I love it so much, I own School House Rock Rocks, a soundtrack featuring updated renditions of the School House classics. Alternative rock band, Better Than Ezra, does a fantastic cover of Conjunction Junction. School House Rock, you truly rock.
